Do I Homeschool Through Summer?

Don't panic fam It really is a personal choice. I would always take summer off and it wasn't really for the kids as much as it was for my sanity. I figure if I want to have a successful next year then I need to be rested and prepped.

Organization
Take time to put  CUM (Cumulative Record Folder) files together and organize paperwork, books, and school work, being sure to discard what wasn't needed. This time would also be used for looking into new curriculum for each child and reviewing it before the upcoming year starts so you know what's coming after summer is over.

What To Do With Extra Books
If you have a curriculum that you're not going to use for other children, then find a home you can donate to. You can also sell it online in homeschool group postings, the money you make can roll over to purchase new books. There are amazing resale conventions for homeschoolers held in the summer so go online and look one up in your city. There is also an amazing convention called "The Chea Convention" this is what the site explains about the convention, "It's an annual convention that provides workshops on a variety of homeschool and family topics. It has an exhibit hall, used curriculum exchange, a child's convention, and a teen convention. This year's convention is held in July on the 11th-13th at the Pasadena Convention Center". Here's their website for more info https://www.cheaofca.org/. This is a great summer activity to go to especially if you are new to homeschooling.

Homeschooling Through Summer
Now if you choose to homeschool during the summer then you rock! no, really you do. Some great advantage of schooling through summer is you can get your kids ahead of the game for the upcoming year. The advantage of this option is being able to take longer Christmas, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, or Memorial Day breaks. You can also prep your kids for an early finish, which is amazing. Another advantage is your kids can be busy,  and not walk around like zombies halfway through summer not knowing what to do. Whatever way you choose is the best way, because it's what's best for your family, there is no right or wrong way. And that's the "Heart of the Matter"
